• What does this scene tell you about the main character?
• How does it do this? List the ‘clues’.

The notes I made on the main character included:
He is rich, important, charming but with an air of and underlying “danger” depicted by the smile but the critical looks around the kitchen as he walks through. Hi is respected or at least people want to stay on side – the introductions, rush to set up a table, gift of alcohol. Whatever it is he has status. The best bit though is at the end when his companion asks what he does, he answers @I’m in construction. I’m a Union Rep”. Drum roll, cymbals clash and we now know that this character is mysterious and dangerous.
